Mother's Day - part five

Up early and out to spend the morning with my mother. We leisurely enjoy the Tim Horton's coffees that I picked up on my way out to the country. I give her my gifts ("I will cherish this..."), as frustrating as it was, her card has grown legs and walked away - ironically so has hers for me, so that was good! I'm sure they'll both turn up by Labour Day. Instead a lovely hand written note and a surprise card is left from my brother (both men are away for a fishing trip this Mother's Day, dad phoned and left me a message, then caught me by phone up in the country - his card to mom was so very touching :-)). My brother's card to me:

Listening and caring,
laughing and sharing...
...you're an amazing mother, sister and friend

Happy Mother's Day

Love K.

Mom and I enjoyed brunch yakking 100 words/minute, bringing her to tears when I talk about what a great team her and dad have been, through thick and thin... then back to her house where she puttered away at mending and tending to her seedlings.

I returned home to two excited phone calls left on my machine from lil grunt. "It's MOTHER'S DAY!!! Wait till I get home to look for you presents, we'll play hot & cold." .... the second one is barely audible, but sounds happy!

Also recieved an e-mail from Omar's dad on Mother's Day requesting that I take a reduced amount for child support. Then he dropped off Omar with a second "oh yeah, it's mother's day, I keep forgetting". A nice phone call did come in from a few friends wishing me a happy mother's day, which, I thought was very nice.

Six more undiscovered Mother's Day gifts are exposed, a purple jeweled decorative purple box containing love, a beautiful rose fan he created, a seedling marigold and these words:

Ten things you love about your mom:

1. her hugs
2. her love
3. her kisses
4. her cooking
5. her hair
6. her drinks
7. her dresses
8. her reading
9. her look
10. her writing

How does your mom make you feel special:

She is always proud.
She is not always mad.
She always helps me.
She is always nice.

My Mother

1. My mom is 35 years old. She has blond hair and green eyes. (Ok, 36 and blue eyes, but they do go from blue to grey to green to believe it or not purplish)
2. My mom's favourite this to do is go to a hockey game with me.
3. My favourite thing that my mom makes is chicken Quesedias.
4. My mom is good at doing the dishes. (! lol)
5. I'm happy when my mom helps me.
6. My mom likes to watch Dr. Phil on T.V. and listen to the Beetles.
7. My mom's best friend is me.
8. My mom looks really pretty when she goes to work.
9. I am proud of my mom because she loves me.

And then the story that brought me to a blubbering mess...

A Child's Angel

Once upone a time there was a child ready to be born. One day he asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God answered, "Amoung the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

"But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy."

"How am I going to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language that men talk?"

"Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

"Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?"

"Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

"Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard, and the child, in a hurry, asked softly, "Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

"Your angel's name is of no importance. You will call your angel 'Mommy'."

Happy Mother's Day!

Omar
