How Petty Is It?

The internet is shlepping and shining a couple of different "truths". So, based on Pareto's Principle allow me to punch a few more holes for these stars.

Is it that Delaware DJ Dan Gaffney has a point and has commented that he thinks RHCP's Dani California sounds very similar to Tom Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance? And by the way, gee who is this Dan Gaffney? Opinionated? Observant? (note: check out a SAMPLE of his show)

Or...

Is Tom Petty accusing and will he be s u i n g either the Red Hot Chili Peppers or their Producer?

Neither of the two artist/bands involved makes any mention of this on their offical websites.

The power of medium to create awareness and to manipulate intrigues me. Does this coverage about this topic prompt me to buy either of these two albums. Does this hold potential to increase sales? If so, the old saying even bad publicity is good publicity is as tried and true, reliable as always.

Already both artists are on my FAVS list. While I haven't purchased the RHCP album yet, now I suspect I will do it sooner than later and heck yeah, will probably pick up a Petty CD too (note: I wanted to write "Album" ~ AGE ALERT!!!). Obviously I'll want to do the comparison myself now ;-) . Coke or Pepsi, which grass is greener? I simply MUST know!

Hats off to the Media Marketing Monster or Universal Laws or Agents if the knowledge of "out of sight, out of mind" has moved these two artists into that cash green limelight once again.

OR....

All my skeptisism aside, do we just have two songs that sound the same?

Something to check out and to avoid any plagiarism; as pulled from this blog.

Gaffney's show producer, Jarred Morris has posted a track on his blog demonstrating the similarities between the songs.

How shocking is it that Morris has received a death threat and hate mail?

"Let's Impeach The President" by Neil Young

What a great song. Story of my life..

Working my tailfeathers off over here to "Blow At High Dough" by The Tragically Hip.

Boogin' down to "Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)" by Pink Floyd. Another benefit of being single, or for that matter alone. Any dancing can be a free expression unemcumbered.

There's quite nothing like working to music. Sadly the online doesn't align with the onradio. Regardless, waking my son up to Zeppelin has it's merits. So does being single. It just might be the perfect existance.

I'm going to discuss business ideas over a bowl of Pho in about 15min. I've pumped out a few pearls, real jewels if I do say so myself in my peach luck an'all.

For now, I shall close off with "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel playing in the background.

Harmpf. Lunch meeting with just called, will be 5/10 minutes late...

OH! I want to share this amazing site for kids:

If You're Into Evil...

I’m not sure if today or yesterday is/was National Hunger Awareness Day. Either way, someone’s hungry both days. Hmmm...

Today is also 6-6-6, or as they pointed out on Chez 106 it’s 06-06-06 aka the day of the Irish Evil. http://www.chez106.com/index2.jsp

Why the spirit of a boy will allow a woman to endure the journey of pregnant, delivery, nursing and raising:

While gardening this Saturday, Omar came to me rather distraught, hand extended, returning an earthworm to me. Taking the worm I noticed that it looked, well, frankly, scared. After a moment the worm extended from it’s recoiled posture and resumed normal worm behaviour wriggling across my hand. Head hanging low Omar sullenly admits to me that he had been "poking" the worm.

Of course we took a moment to explore the situation. This rates right up there with the day he came to me riddled with guilt, bordering on tears, with burrowed brow explaining "I was petting the cats fwur the wong way".

In other news, RHCP , Eric Clapton and Sheryl Crow are coming to town.

A Shitty Outlook?
